This is Zac, he is a very sweet and gentle guy who is usually just the quiet type, but likes to play from time to time.
This adorable kitty is FIV +, which means he is like a person who has HIV. His immune system is affected, but he may have a long and healthy life if he remains healthy. This is something that is very hard to be passed on to other people and animals when the animal is not feral, meaning that it would take a very brutal attack with body fluids exchange for him to be able to contaminate another animal, and he is not a wild animal who would engage in that type of fight.
If you have questions about FIV, please contact me and I will send you more information.
Due to PetSmart’s change in policy that will no longer allow FIV + animals to be in their adoption centers, animals like Zac will lose a big opportunity to meet prospective adoptive families, making it very difficult for him to find his furrever home. This new policy will become effective on August 1st, 2011, so Zac needs to find a caring and loving home before then.
If you live in the Northern Delaware area, please stop by the Christina PetSmart to meet this lovely kitty. Who knows, he may be the gentle giant missing in your life!
Also, please let PetSmart know that this new policy only shows how little they know about FIV. If enough people contact and boycott them, they may reconsider their decision. The new policy is for both FIV and Feline Leukemia, but while the latter is highly infectious, FIV is NOT!
